2020 goal reset

Happy Tuesday! I hope you are still going strong with your resolutions, but just in case you need a little boost, its never too late to reset. What resolutions or goals do you have for 2020? And how are you doing with them so far? I would love to know what you are focused on this year. I usually list long and short term goals, such as yearly, then monthly. It’s always helpful to write your goals and plans, but honestly, there wasn’t a lot of checking off my list at the end of the year, or even month. By the end of the first couple of months of the bright new shiny year, I had all but deserted my list. I definitely needed to change this up for 2020! For example, I have started a YouTube channel, FireOverFifty. A long term goal would be to grow this channel. Awesome, but really hard to measure and just how do I plan on achieving this? I’ve started using the SMART goals method:
  • Specific
    • answers the “w” questions – who, what, where, when, which, why?
  • Measurable
    • success can be measured – answers “how’?
  • Attainable
    • realistic and reasonable (very important!)
  • Relevant
    • aligned with your current tasks and projects
  • Time Oriented
    • clearly defined time frame with a target and deadline
I needed to define my growth goal, such as a defined number new subscribers. Then, place a time frame on that goal to make it even more measurable. So instead of setting a goal to grow FireOverFifty, it would be:
  • Have 100 subscribers by June 30, 2020
Better, but what do I need to do to achieve this goal?
  • Have 100 subscribers by June 30, 2020
    • Research trending video topics
    • List video topics on a white board on a monthly basis
    • Film, edit and post one video weekly
      • Monday – prep
      • Tuesday – film
      • Wednesday – edit
      • Thursday – post
    • Promote channel on other platforms
      • Instagram
      • FaceBook
      • Twitter
      • LinkedIn
      • Pinterest
    • Continue to educate myself on current YouTube best practices and trends
      • Video Ranking Academy
      • Inner Circle Live
      • other YouTube channels
I am also not just making my goals focused on me.  I am placing a focus on my subscribers and for my blog, you – my readers. I am hoping that this will help make my goals easier to actually envision and achieve. What tips have you used for goal setting that have helped? I have always loved my planners, even with our digital calendars and reminders, which I also love. There is just something so awesome about checking off the list with a red pen! If you haven’t already bought a planner, here are some that I love.
My favorite planner is from Emily Ley. The planners are so stylish with great accessories and awesome set up and support videos. Emily has also written some wonderful books. Plus, the planners are 20% off off! I am not an affiliate for the planners below, just sharing the link, with the exception of Target. This means that if you were to click on a link and/or purchase an item after clicking on a link, The Dirt Road Divas may receive a percentage of the sales price. I only recommend products that I love and use through my affiliate links. Thank you for your support!
Katie from Love, Sweat and Fitness also has a really cute goals planner. Her YouTube channel has a fitness focus and this planner includes fitness goals specifically, along with a resource section with day and night routine printables, healthy recipes and even a self care spinner! Again, not an affiliate, just sharing with you.
Another planner I’ve used and really like is from Ruth Soukup, the Living Well Planner. Not as many cover choices as Emily Ley, but really awesome layout and goal planning sections. Ruth also offers wonderful tutorials and support with the planner. Not an affiliate for this planner:)
Target planner
If you just can’t wait to have a planner mailed to you, there is always Target! Target has lots of really cute planners that you can get today. Plus, they are super reasonable. How cute is this planner? And only $13! Let’s get to goaling for 2020!
